मेरे दादाजी के सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद हरिद्वार में प्रवास के कारण गर्मियों की छुट्टियों के दौरान देहरादून हमारा पसंदीदा स्थान था। चूँकि मेरी माँ का विस्तृत परिवार देहरादून में था, हम हमेशा छुट्टियों के दौरान पहाड़ों में अपनी वार्षिक छुट्टियों का इंतज़ार करते थे।
दल्लनवाला में औपनिवेशिक शैली का बंगला आंखों को सुकून देने वाला था। हर घर में लीची के पेड़ थे और सड़कें राजसी छायादार पेड़ों से घिरी हुई थीं। दोपहर में हवा चल रही थी और शहर काफी हद तक शांतिपूर्ण था। हमारे घर से कुछ ही दूरी पर झरने थे, और सोशल मीडिया के दबाव और समयबद्ध यात्रा पैकेज सौदों के बिना हमारी छुट्टियाँ स्वर्गीय थीं।
अफसोस की बात है कि घाटी की हालिया यात्रा ने पुराने दिनों को लगभग झुठला दिया है। ऐसा लगता है कि जर्जर कंक्रीट और आधुनिक शहरी जीवन के तामझाम ने प्राचीन घाटी को अब उसके गौरवशाली अतीत की धुंधली छाया में बदल दिया है, हालांकि पुरानी दुनिया का आकर्षण अभी भी कुछ बिखरे हुए स्थानों पर बना हुआ है।
